We read "Pay It Forward" to coincide with the release of the film starring Helen Hunt, Kevin Spacey and Haley Joel Osment. The general feel was that the film did not do justice to the book. The most obvious change was the casting of Kevin Spacey in the role of Reuben St. Clair, who was written as an African-American character. This was hard to get around while reading since we knew who was cast in the role.
